Events

We're Opening on Monday, June 15th!

To Our Awesome Loyal Patrons and Friends -

We are more than excited to re-open on Monday, June 15th and we can’t wait to see you! We sincerely appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding! In accordance with guidance from the governor and the leadership of the University, we have implemented safety and hygiene guidelines for all patrons and staff. For reference, please see the governor’s executive order

We will need your help in this new phase of operations to ensure that we are all safe and healthy moving forward, so we are sharing information regarding memberships as well as how we will be operating in the first phase of our re-opening and how you can help all of us be successful.

MEMBERSHIPS

We hope to have many of you return soon and we will work with you to renew or continue your membership status.

With the aim of reducing foot traffic in the Member Services Office as much as possible, we ask that patrons renew their memberships in one of three ways:
- online at play.urec.msstate.edu
- email us membership@saffairs.msstate.edu
- call 662.325.7244 to speak with Jeannine or Kari

Please understand that in this first phase of re-opening, no children 17 or younger will be allowed access. If you have a current membership that includes children, we will work with you individually to ensure that we have fully resolved how you move forward with your membership and that you are credited or charged accordingly with the circumstances.

Only credit and debit cards will be accepted for all purchases in the Sanderson Center; cash will not be accepted.

All current members as of March 15, 2020, will receive (1) one automatic FREE month plus time lost due to the COVID-19 shutdown.

RESERVATIONS AND ACCESS

During this initial phase, the Sanderson Center will operate following the governor’s executive order guidelines with a significantly reduced occupancy for the safety of all patrons and staff. To maintain safe occupancy levels for each area and activity throughout the day, all workouts will require a reservation. Only current Sanderson members are eligible to make reservations. No guests will be allowed at this time.

ALL reservations will be made at play.urec.msstate.edu
Reservations open one week in advance with the exception of Group-X classes.
- Group exercise class reservations open 24 hours in advance of the class.
- Limit one reservation per member per day.
- Reservations are for a maximum of 50 minutes; check-in begins 10 minutes prior to the start of the reservation. All patrons will need to exit the facility when their 50-minute - workout block ends.

You must bring your MSU ID or Sanderson Center membership card in order to gain access.
If you are unable to attend a reservation you made, we ask that you cancel the reservation 12 hours in advance to free up spots for patrons on our “waiting list.”
Spaces and activities available to reserve will include the first and second floor fitness areas, the overflow cardio area in the lounge, lanes in the swimming pool, group fitness classes, racquetball courts (for individual use only), badminton courts (singles only) and the climbing wall (bouldering only).
Close-contact activities and team sports will not be offered at this time. These include basketball, kickboxing, martial arts, indoor soccer, and volleyball.

All patrons will undergo a general screening before entering the Sanderson Center daily. This screening will consist of a no-touch temperature check and 5 questions regarding COVID-19 pursuant to the governor’s orders.

You must have a temperature reading no greater than 100.4°F to gain access. We recommend taking your temperature before traveling to the facility.

All purchases will be processed through credit and debit cards only; cash will not be accepted at this time.

There will be no food or drink sales.

Please bring a personal sports bottle for hydration purposes.

SOCIAL DISTANCING AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

We are in this together. It is our expectation that we are all courteous and diplomatic in working together to make operations safe and hygienic. While not everyone will agree with everything, it’s important to be respectful of others. If conflict arises, please bring it to the attention of a staff member, not another patron.

Patrons are expected to practice social distancing of 6 feet while in the facility and while waiting to enter the facility. While a mask is not mandatory, it is highly encouraged for everyone's well-being.

We will place large 6 foot social distancing stickers on the floor around the facility as a friendly reminder of social distancing requirements.

Group exercise classes will require 12-foot distancing.

There will be no equipment check-out service offered.

Patrons will need to bring their own equipment for fitness classes and other allowed activities involving equipment.

While our staff will be constantly sanitizing exercise equipment throughout the building, we ask that you help us maintain a clean gym by wiping down the equipment you’ve finished using.

Hand sanitizer stations have been placed at the entrance and throughout the facility. Patrons will be required to sanitize their hands upon entry into and exit from the facility, and when moving between exercise equipment.

When working out, please perform exercises with weight that you can safely lift without the need for spotting or contact with others.

EQUIPMENT AND PERSONAL BELONGINGS

Showers will not be accessible at this time.

Please limit the number of personal belongings you bring into the facility to help our staff with a heightened emphasis on cleanliness.

There will be no equipment checkout or towel rental service during this time. Please bring a personal towel for your workouts. You may purchase a towel through the customer service desk for $2.50 using a credit or debit card.

In closing, we understand that this reopening will present a new challenge for all of us and we will do all that we can to make your return enjoyable rather than problematic. We hope that you give us some grace in this process and bring suggestions to the attention of our staff so that we are able move forward and continually improve.
